Valheim devs 'in truth Leslie Townes Hope' players start the brave over for Hearth and Home

Rejoice, Vikings! Our long wait is nearly at an death. Valheim's Open fireplace and Home update testament arrive later this week.

To help you prepare, Smoothing iron Gate Studios has released a 20 moment fireside chat that takes place around a virtual campfire within Valheim, with Jehovah and lead interior decorator Richard Svensson, generalist artist Robin Eyre, and  supporter community manager Josefin Berntsson American Samoa moderator.

The Old World chat covers a lot of what we already know: that Fireside and Home wish introduce new foods and recipes, and that the food system has been overhauled to give players more choices about what they eat referable meals seemly more toughness and wellness focused. (As wel, strategic vomiting has been added.) Since health and stamina govern combat, this in bend makes some changes to weapons and enemies. The development team sees Open fireplace and Home as a rebalance of Valheim to set the groundwork for future updates.

The devs also want to temper expectations for those hoping to find a massively changed world when Open fireplace and Home base arrives. Briefly: Don't expect that. Contempt the changes, they say, Valheim won't really feel each that different, and it's not meant to.

"IT's still departure to be the same Valheim," says Eyre. "I'm hoping, if everything works out correctly, the great unwashe are equitable loss to be super sick that IT feels good.

"Like, you didn't serve anything! But we did."

And for those WHO have absorbed every bit of Hearth and Home information connected the internet, it sounds like in that location's still plenty the devs haven't revealed yet, so there still should be a few surprises including a "new weapon or shield, maybe" and combined or ii "new skills."

As for how best to savor the Hearth and Home update when IT arrives, that's going to be adequate to players, though the devs have some advice:

"To get the new cognitive content you have to search new areas," says Svensson. "For example, we added some new locations to the Plains biome, and you have already explored parts of the Plains biome, those areas will not be changed. You will have to go to unexplored areas to find the bran-new things."

In that respect, the team feels the best way to experience Open fireplace and Home is to start a new courageous in a new world.

"I in truth hope people volition instead of just continue playacting with their own worlds really make a new world and start from the beginning," says Svensson. "Because we added and changed so much, thus to get the best experience that's probably what you should behave. And what we would recommend.

"I know a lot of people lack to continue playing their old worlds but that's believably not the best thing to do if you want to experience all the new glut."

"I would say don't spoil yourselves by going into your superannuated worlds and checking prohibited all the build pieces and all the things that you get," says Eyre. "I'd say play it fresh. Be fresh! Play fresh! Thank you."

I'm positive starting terminated will be a tough concept for just about players (including me). Valheim is about exploring the unknown, but it's also or so carving out a cozy and comfortable home in a small corner of that unknown, and the thought of going that family behind and starting over is a trifle sad.

Then again, Valheim is wonderfully agnostic about letting you move your grapheme around between different worlds and even from singleplayer to multiplayer, so maybe the best bet is to just take your existent character into a new world and not completely desolate your existing one.

Open fireplace and Home will arrive Thursday, September 16.
